SBC flywheels in an LT1

What makes LT1 flywheels so much different than standard SBC flywheels?

My motor is a neutrally balanced 383, so why couldnt I just use a SBC 0 balance flywheel with the right starter teeth and surface area?

Thanks,
Stu

Re: SBC flywheels in an LT1

The old style SBC had a different bolt pattern than the later models with the 1pc rear main seal.

All 1pc rear main engines have counterweighted flywheels & are the same counterweight / bolt pattern as the LT1.

You would still need a special neutral balanced flywheel for your engine.

I believe the SBC flywheel is 168 teeth vs 153 teeth for the LT1. Also need to verify that the diameters are the same; I think the SBC is a larger diameter disk.
