SBC/BBC Flywheel ?'s

Does the transmission/clutch assembly (LT1 T56 in this case) care what flywheel it is mated with as long as the flywheel clutch surface is large enough to handle the clutch (i.e. 11" in this case)? Also what does the tooth count matter - (153 compared to 168)? McLeod tech told me to run a 153 on my BBC with a mini starter clocked correctly.

I'm asking these because I can find flywheels that specifically say to mate a 93-97 6 speed to a 55-85 2 piece crank pattern, but they all have 153 tooth ring gear.

Thanks,
Anthony
