s60 and pinion angle

yes ive searched but not much info on the 60

ive read that the pinion is slightly offset in the strange s60, and just wondering if i need to account for this or not?

heres the deal - ive got adj. lower arms and PHB, and adj. TA. and im not to sure where to start to set up the rear of my car.

where do i set the control arms at for a good starting point?

from what ive gathered you want your trans and rear to be parallel ideally.

ive also got the relocation kit from UMI and just wondering which holes i should use in that bracket? theres like 4 different settings...

i pretty much just need a base line or a starting point to go off, any help is much appriciated, thanks!

nothing to do

center the axle in the wheelwell then measure carefully to the front wheels to make sure that the axle measures the same on each side.

Yes, to start with then you need to tip the front of the pinion down 2 to 3 degrees

For all out straight line traction use the bottom holes. To set up for spirited driving use a hole that makes the LCA parallel to the ground or just a tiny bit lower at the rear mountint point.

read inserted notes.

Angle finder on the face of the tail housing of the trans, compare that to the face of the rear end yoke. Using your adjustable torque arm make those read the same then adjust the rear end angle down a couple of degrees.

I always set pinion angle before installing the driveshaft so that I can put the angle finder on the rear face of the trans where the seal goes in. Not on the seal but right beside it. That surface is 90° to the centerline of the output shaft.

ahh, ok. That makes sense. What do you mean by face of the rear end then?

doesnt the output shaft of the trans stick out past that point, and if it does could you just use the very end of the output shaft?

the face of the rear end, you mean the part of the yoke where the u bolts go into the yoke? and just make sure its perfectly vertical?

With a machined yoke you can use the surface where the U-bolts go thru. If it's a rough cast yoke and the base of your angle finder is small like mine you can sit it right in where the u-joint caps sit after using it to index the yoke to perpendicular.

well, I finally have my torque arm set up properly. the harmonic damnper was at 86.5 degrees, and I set up the rear to be at 87 degrees to have a half a degree pointing down when compared to the trans. Since this is a daily driver, I didn't want much more. I will add degrees when I go to the track though.

Problem is, vibration is still there.

Thanks for the help with this though!
