Reverse in T56 popping out

Whenever I put my car in reverse, it pops out of gear on occassion. If I put it in reverse and SLOWLY let out on the clutch, you can hear a faint "clunk" in the trans, and it is then that I give it some right pedal and continue to release the clutch pedal. It does it's thing ok then. But its when I give it gas at the same time when I let out on the clutch, that it pops out. Any ideas? Just a synchro or what? The rest of the trans is fine, its just reverse and its annoying as hell!!!

My 3.4l would pop out of reverse after moving a few feet. ended up that the reverse gear itself had a few of the teeth broken off. not sure if thats the case with your car but thats what mine was.

yea i know it sucks @ss when that crap happens. i always hope its the clutch or the synchros before the transmission gears just cuz its cheaper to replace the others and alot less complicated. hope thats not the case with ur ride, ill keep my fingers crossed for ya and pray that it isnt too bad.

Its likely just the synchro but get it fixed ASAP or you will round the teeth on the reverse gear and then you'll need both. Been there paid the price.

mine does the same thing, just hold the shifter in reverse and let the clutch out slowly until you "click" all the way into reverse. usually if i just i put the shifter in reverse and let the clutch out without any pressure on the shifter in reverse it will grind..

I thought reverse isnt Syncronized???

All gears are synchronized in the T56

Mine does the same thing. It annoys the crap out of me. It always does it when I don't want it to and then everybody looks at me like i'm an idiot and can't drive a standard.
