Replacing tranny what do I need?

As the title said im replacing my 4L60E in my '94 Trans Am. Allow I would prefer to send her to the shop I just dont have the funds to pay for the tranny and labor. That being said, Im looking for any tips and clues as to how to do the work myself. Also what tools will I need to get the job done, any and everything that comes to mind let know, spare no expense.

It will depend on your mechanical abilities. It's really not that hard... by the sounds of it you don't have a pile of tools.

I did a swap on my car from auto to M6. Pulling the auto was fairly easy. I had a hoist though. The biggest thing you have to worry about is getting the car up high enough and SAFELY supported so you can work under there. I would also suggest putting the tires under the car as well to prevent it crushing you should it happen to fall.

As far as tools.... you're going to need some line wrenches, a good torque wrench, some pry bars, a complete socket kit would be nice with some long extensions and a universal joint to reach the tranny bolts to the motor.

Check out this article: http://www.afrashteh.com/tranny_pics/T56.htm It covers swapping the tranny over to M6, but it'll get the tranny out for you, and to quote Chilton's... "Just reverse for assembly"

The last thing I would recommend is the GM manuals. Very good instructions and includes torque specs.
