replacing shift solenoid
replacing shift solenoid
Hey guys, my 4l60e broke ONCE again.. the tranny shop said its the shift solenoid. Tranny won't shift into second gear.... It was rebuilt like not even 7,000 miles ago. I removed the tranny and was just going to replace it... But then I was thinkin, how hard is it to replace the shift solenoid? Never really messed around with auto trans. Anyone have any idea/thoughts/comments? I looked for a write up but couldnt find one.. Guys think it might be better to just get yet ANOTHER rebuilt one? (this time from a different shop) Thanks
Shift solenoids are extremely easy to change. First, locate them on the rear of the valve body. they will look like 2 square, metal housings that are side by side. Unclip the wires next. Then locate the retaining clips just ahead of them, in the valve body casting. You'll need a small screwdriver or a pick to get the clips out. Be careful to keep steady pressure on the "A" solenoid, as it has spring pressure behind it. Pull the clip and release it slowly. The "A" solenoid os the one closest to the driver side of the car.
