replaced slave cylinder, WTF now no line pressure.....

My bro and i just finished replacing his clutch slave cylinder in his 95Z and we got everything in no problem. but we've been pumping the clutch for like 30 minutes and it wont get any line pressure. there are no leaks in the system so i dont know why it wont get any pressure. also the master cylinder is full with DOT3 brake fluid but still no go on the clutch. anyone know what it might be? I really need to get this done cuz tomorrow were getting a cold front and its coming down from 75* to mid 20's, i dont want to freeze my *** off tomorrow. thanks in advance .

You might have air in the system. If you do a quick search you should be able to find the proper bleeding technique.

Are you bleeding it on every stroke of the clutch pedal ? If not , you need to ... have someone press the clutch in and hold it, open the bleeder on the slave, let whatever is comming out ... out ,and close the bleeder and keep repeating the process until you have completely bleed the system and don't let the master cylinder run dry or you will have to start over. Be patient and you should be ok.

where exactly is the bleeder on the slave? I dont even know what the method for bleeding the clutch is, so that's all news to me. i was under the inpression that you just have to push the clutch pedal until it builds pressure. but the pedal will go all the way in with no effort at all, i even got my 4yr old neice to help me out.

There should be a bleeder on the slave itself, it should look like a bleeder on a brake caliper and yes, anytime you open a hydrollic system you let air into the system and it must be bled out.

i'll double check that, but i dont remember seeing it on the slave cylinder. Oh and BTW IDK if it makes any difference but my bro's car is a 96z. I did a search but i found that the LS1 cars are the ones that have the bleeder. either way i will check and get back to you guys in an hour or so. thanks!

after you bleed it, you still need to pump it like crazy.

I just checked my manual for 1997 and earlier f-bodys...
1. Loosen the two bolts holding clutch master cylinder to firewall just to the ends of the threads , but do not remove.
2. Jack up vehicle and remove slave cylinder from bellhousing but leave the line hooked up and tie up the slave with some safty wire or string so it is not being held up by the hose, it says to tie it to the left hood strut.
3. Lower vehicle and remove reservoir cap on master cylinder and make sure it is clean before opening.

4.Holding the slave cylinder lower than the master cylinder press the push rod into the slave about 25/32 -inch and hold it in , install the diaphram and cap on the master cylinder.
5. Continue pressing push rod into slave using short 25/32-inch strokes while watching the for bubbles entering the mastercylinder reservoir. When you see no more bubbles it should be bled.
6Install the slave cylinder and tighten the two bolts on the mastercylinder and check your fluid level.

I hope this helps you.

the way that i bled mine was by getting a vacuum pump put it in the reservoir, down at the bottom, put about 8 lbs not too much, on it and have someone pump the clutch and the other keep the pressure until its all out. it only takes about 10 minutes.
