Removing T56 -- help please!
Removing T56 -- help please!
Okay, so I'm almost done removing the T56 from my Z28.
We have the separated from the bellhousing, and the trans is sitting on the trans jack. The only thing keeping me from lowering the trans and being done (for the day) is disconnecting the hydraulic line from the slave cylinder.
Some searching yielded this sticky on LS1Tech:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=779117
Step 13 of that sticky says:
13. Push the little tab on the connector of the master braided line and then pull the line out of the slave and tie it off out of the way.
Here's a picture of the braided line where it goes into the slave cylinder:

I've pushed and pushed on the little plastic ring around the line, and pulled on the braided line at the same time. Like you do with quick-disconnect air fittings. It hasn't moved at all. The plastic ring spins easily around the rest of the assembly.
Can anyone help? Thanks!
Am I doing it right, and just not pushing/pulling hard enough?

You have to push that plastic ring as FAR IN as it will possibly go, and even then, it still takes some wiggling and pulling to get the line out
(and as you're pulling the braided line OUT, make sure that plastic ring stays IN, otherwise it'll still cause you problems).

Thanks a ton, Dan, for your help and for letting me borrow your tools!
