Angry Removing A4 dipstick tube bracket

I cant for the life of me get the dipstick tube bracket that holds the tube to the engine block off. How on earth do you get to that bolt! And it is a 15mm bolt correct?

Re: Removing A4 dipstick tube bracket

yes it is a 15mm, why are you removing it? If you are doing a Tranny R&R then when you remove the cross member lower the tranny a little and you can get to it, as well as all the other bell housing bolts.. oh yeah it's much easier if you remove the Y pipe, I did it without removing the Y pipe so it can be done that way also. Not sure how to get to it without lower ith trans!

I just went and looked at the writeup I used when pulling the tranny and it says 9/16"

Sweet thanks, I tried unbolting the tranny mount and jacking up the tailend of the tranny to give me more clearance between the firewall and the engine, but that didnt work. I'll try dropping the xmember this time.

I'm doing all this just to get to the EGR Exhaust Tube on the passanger manifold. The bracket for the dipstick is covering the bolt.

yeah dropping it down is the best way to do that! and it will even alow you to get to the bolt from under the car if you wanted.
