reliability of the 4l60e

i have done a search and read plenty of forums.

i would like if everybody would verify if my general consensus on the 4l60e is correct. i am not saying it is or not, but this is what i viewed and thought from other threads.

the 4l60e is a weak tranny overall. there is some people that luck out with adding plenty of mods without modding the tranny and it doesn't break. then there is the average people and the not so lucky. they have there tranny break if there stock or slightly modded. and it's around 70k to 90k, from what i saw. or the average+semi lucky that have their tranny go about 120k.

i just wanted to see if everybody would agree upon this or not and finally get to the truth of the capabilities of the 4l60e.

i am actually facing my first tranny rebuild and i am going to get a tc. mine went out at about 85k and from what i was told it was the bands. i can still drive it, which is a plus. but it obviously would not be good to drive it(only going to be driven to tranny shop). the thing that made me mad is i had a carfax and everything and it was clean. i didn't really beat on the car either. compared to my friends on how they drive their cars, i didn't drive mine.

My tranny broke when my car was stock at 11000 miles and again when it was a bolt on car at 17000. I got a performance rebuild the second time and now it shifts really nice with stall and cam.
