rearend about to go???

When I accelerate quickly I feel a thunk under the left wheel (both tires only once). I am told that I have too much torque/hp for the rear to handle and the yolk is being forced upward into the body. If this is true then how come I only hear it on one side? One other thing I was told is the posi-traction may be catching on one end and the noise I get is from the other finally getting planted. I know this can't be good, but how long before it goes?

Make sure your bolts for your lower control arms are tight, no slop in them. Just an idea. and your sure its not the long tubes hitting the floor right?

Yea like what 19ss99 was sayin my buddy has a trans am ,when he torqued it too much it'd tap the bottom of the car he thought for sure the tranny was gonna go, but we soon found out it was part of the exhaust and fixed it he also has the 3 inch exhaust all the way back which didnt help, so check that first that might be it hopefully.

Thanks so far for the advice. Man I sure hope it is as simple (and cheap) as tightening a few bolts. BTW, have anyone heard of putting a bushing between the yolk and body, if it is in fact the rearend torqueing up?

i dont know if its even possible for the yoke on the rear end to hit the body, the torque arm is above the yoke so unless it is the torque arm hitting ?! ...check your trans/crossmember mount...they are rubber and can break, so even though all bolts are tight, it may still be broken...if that is the case, the u joint on the tranny end will come up and hit the trans tunnel...that happened to me, and i was sure it was something in the rear end...must be the way it echos off the car...check that out first though
