Rear mounted spare tire...

Currently I have my spare mounted in place of a blown rear tire. Someone had brought up the possiblity of this causing excessive wear on the differential. Should I be worried about this? The replacement tire is going on Wednesday.

Yes.
Spares should never be put on solid axles.

Move it to the front.
