Rear end q??

26041414 gm d1 ??is that the rite numbering for a 96 ss?

What does the d 1 means??
i thinking this rear end is not the original one cuz it has markings on it ??

My search turned up several posts on other sites that quoted that casting number for 3rd Gen and for LT1 4th Gen rear axle assemblies.
