Rear end noise

I've got a rear end noise that has been around for a few yrs. It's a "wha wha wha wha wha" sound that increases w/ speed. I brought it to the dealership sat. & had the shop mgr. test drive it w/ me. From the sound he's not sure if it's the wheel bearings or spider gears. Of course, he'll have to open it up & see. This noise has been happening for a few yrs. & has recently got louder. I changed the rear diff fluid last month w/ syn. gear oil & LSD additive. At first, the sound was about the same if not quieter. But now is louder. If it's the wheel bearings he said it should be ~$200-$300, if spider gears ~$300-~$400< if any axle damage $700+. Anyone w/ experience w/ this problem? Thoughts?
