rear end gears???????
rear end gears???????
im going to plan to change the rear end gears. wanting to know what you guys have think 4.10 or 3.73 ???? what rpms do you t56 ers run ??/ and what do you think i should go with???
Re: rear end gears???????
At 70MPH, you will see the following approx. RPM in 6th gear:
3.42 - 1,580 rpm
3.73 - 1,725 rpm
4.10 - 1,895 rpm
It will vary slightly, based on actual rolling diameter of your tires.
You're going to find that the 3.73's and 4.10's make 6th gear a lot more usable for cruising. That reduces the impact on gas mileage.
Where you can get into trouble with the 4.10's will be at the track. With a 6,000rpm redline, and stock diamter tires, you're going to have to shift to 5th gear if you trap over 110 MPH.

Re: rear end gears???????
I switched to 4.10's last summer and couldn't be happier with them. I've got my car setup to be a street car and not a track car, so I wasn't too concerned with hitting 5th gear at the strip. If I had to do it again, I'd go with 4.10's in a heart beat. Well, actually, I probably would've bought a 12 bolt
