Well, it sure ddint take long (lasted a little longer than i thought though) but the rear end finally gave in to the M6.. 3 track launches is all it took.. but no sub 2.0s and only one that was even a 2.1.. other two were 2.3 and 2.4.. it broke on the 2.4 60' go figure *shrug* anyways whatever broke is making a LOUD POP type sound, someone suggested to me may be a u-joint? anyone else know whati should be lookin for, or just pull the rear cover off and call it a day? and if that is the case whats the best replacement, not lookin to spend over $1200 and want to keep my 3.73 gear if possible..

Re: rear end finally gone. i think..

Can the car still drive at all?? When my 4.10's went recently, they were making a pretty distinct "buzzing" noise at speeds above ~20 mph (a metallic buzzing, that is) but at slower speeds, more of a "thunk, thunk, thunk" noise!! In my case, it was 2 teeth off the pinion. You could have lost a tooth (or 2, or 3) off the ring gear, OR busted the entire posi unit, OR snapped a U-joint?! The possibilities are almost endless!

The gears should be what, ~$200 and change?? (I'm Canadian, I don't know your prices, except to know they're better than ours!! ) and I know a gear shop up here charges roughly ~$400 for gear re & re's.

mm im not sure which was which, but when i had the 3.73 put in roughly a year ago it was $587 total.. itd better not be my gears.. same guy put them in that did my auto trans though *sigh* and yeah i was having that loud buzzing noise a few days ago at higher speeds.. errr my guess was something metal rubbing on the flywheel because it SOUNDED like it was coming from the front, bah.. i guess gears are cheaper than a whole new rear.. *shrug* ill find out for sure what the deal is monday though but i hate waiting.. lol
