rear end building help

What is the best rear end for my application? ive been looking at a moser 9" or a moser 12 bolt

what i want to build up front:
Edelbrock LT4 intake
Dart 190cc or 215 cc heads
comp cam 280xfi Duration 280/288 lift .576/.570
K&N CAI
PCMforless tuning
pacesetter LT ORY
+ what ever is needed to support these mods engine wise

i hope later to make this a supercharged 383 (~580 hp/ ~540 tq)

all ran through a tremec t56

the car will never see more than 600 HP

**if any of these numbers are off call me out. I'm 18 and no where near an expert in the lt1 but its the only engine i learn about so ill know what your talking about. Also if u see any problems with this build please let me know**

A 12-bolt will be more than adequate for your application if you are speaking in terms of flywheel HP. I prefer the Strange, because it coesn't have issues with not having the through-bolts for the torque arm mount.

Before you buy new heads, and the Edelbrock intake manifold, post your plans on the "LT1 Based Engine Tech" forum. You'll get a lot of suggestions that will allow you to make the HP you want without the expense of new heads, intake, etc.

Is your goal of a S/C'd 383 with "~580 hp/ ~540 tq" at the flywheel, or at the rear wheels?

I love my xfi 280 cam. Pulls like a freight train from 4500 on. Also heard that the stock intake ported and polished will outperform the edelbrock intake. If your gonna be building the engine for boost just know that by lowering the compression it may not feel better than stock until u put your s/c t/c in.

Re: rear end building help

Better heads and a bigger cam will provide increased HP and you will feel it. But if you are building an engine for a S/C application, you will probably want to use a static compressio ratio in the range of 9.0 - 9.5. In effect, you will lose a little HP compared to running the new combination at 11.0:1. 1 unit drop in CR is roughly 2.0 to 2.5% loss of HP, with no other changes.
