I just bought a 2001 Z28 and was wondering if someone could tell me what rearend gears come stock..some tell me 2:73 and some say 3:42..so I was just curious.

the code "GU6" for 3.42.

The 2.73 gear ratio's RPO code is "GU2"

 

3.42s are for manuals.

Autos have 2.73s or 3.23s.
2.73=GU2
3.23=GU5

We need to know what tranny you've got, and/or, look at the codes on the driver's side door for one of the above .

BTW, congrat's on your new ride! I'm sure you love it already, and I'm sure you'll love it every time you blow the doors off a 5.0L Mustang too!!

I find the biggest problem with F-bodies is the "mod bug" .

 

Yeah, the mod bug is irresistible. Parts are realitevly cheap(ever look at parts for a 300ZX or a Supra) and they respond so well. I could tell a seat of pants difference with just an intake.

 

Mine was 2.73's I got 3.73's now and cost me $525 for gears, install kit, and differential from SLP. $100 for a differential and its good quality. No whining clanking etc.. Great buy!!

 

You can still get those take-off differentials? Thought they were out and done with that^
