real bad vibration after u joint install

shello everyone just signed up came from the intro forum. and already
have my first problem my z is a 96 m6 modded. few weeks back my friend and I did the joints front n back with Moog 534g model# put them in greased em made sure all needles and caps where aligned and good. lined up the ds with the marks I made on the rear and slid it in no problem. now since then its totally undrivable.all gears starting @40 and up the vibration is so bad the console bolt pops out. in neutral the shifter vibrates real bad until its less than 40.reverse I can't use the gas pedal have too clutch it a little and if I do apply gas the car bucks so bad. I'm thinking tranny bushing combined with m mounts being worn throwing the ds angle outta whack? I am going this week to balance the ds. sorry for the long thread for a newbie. any help I would appreciate. anymore details on my car just ask. prior to this it did have slight vibrations. but since the new joints its a million x worse.

Unbolt the shaft from the rear and rotate it 180 degrees and reattach...

If that does not work, I would say something went wrong with the joint install.

Re: real bad vibration after u joint install

I'll second Rob's comment. When removing the old u-joints, were they the factory/OEM joints that have to have the nylon filler melted out to remove them? Did you possibly use a high pressure press or a hammer to try and get them out? Are you sure you have the correct replacement joints? Did they seat fully in the yokes?

Were you experiencing similar vibration problems BEFORE you replaced them? If not, why did you replace them?

Re: real bad vibration after u joint install

yes injun I had vibrations b4 not bad tolerarable mainly on hway. switched gears and no prob. now street n hway are so bad in all gears and neutral. below 40 its OK. above 40 in all gears console and car shakes and vibrates. we did melt the old ones then pressed them out. we were careful not to bend the ears front n back. the weights on the ds were not disturbed. lined it up with marks I Made. now this problem? old joints were real bad loose dried up etc sealed joints new ones Moog 534 g fit I'm no prob and greased

Did you clock the DS to the yokes the same way as it came off?

If nothing else works ands you think it is balancing, you can put a hose clamp on it and then move that around to different positions and see if it helps at all.

Kevin been busy all week didn't disconnect the ds yet; to rotate it. I read bout that hose clamp on the ds. is it a quick solution or permanent? I'm still gonna balance it and check or change the trans bushing tomorrow.
