Real axle info needed
I picked up a nice set of chrome wheels from a 01 Trans Am to put on my 95 Trans am. At the time I didn't know about the hub size difference and that the later wheels would not fit on my car. They will fit the front hubs but not the rear. I've been looking around to see what I can do but I need some help. I don't want to grind on the wheels to make them fit. I would like to replace the axles in the rear end but I don't know what to buy that will work. I've read that 98+ axles are longer but I don't trust everything I read. Does anybody know what other year axles (with the smaller hub) will fit a 95 rear end?

you might want to look into some wheel spacers you can bring your rear end out get better control and put your rims on. you can find some on ebay to they run about $60-125 it would cost more for the larger offset if you want it but it sounds like you just want to mount some rims 1" would most likely suet your perpus just fine there is also wheel addapters that you could look into.

He does not need adapters or spacers. Why complicate the subject?
This is simply a very common problem on the 93-96 F-Bodys. The rear hubs are about 0.03" larger in diameter than the front hubs. If you don't want to grind the inside diameter of the wheels (hundreds of people have done it with no problems), grind the outside diameter of the hubs. Or find 1997 axles, since they corrected the difference in rear hub sizes somewhere late in the 1996 model year, or early in the 1997 model year.

Thanks guys. That is pretty much the info I was looking for.
There's just one other thing I want to be sure of. Are axles from a LS1 car different from an LT1 car? And what specifically is different?
