Race built 4L60E, Where to buy?

I am looking for a place I can just buy a tranny from and not have to ship it to them and get it rebuilt. My car is my daily driver, so it cant be out for too long. I know most people will say CPT is best, but I found a couple more places that seem good and some offer better warentees. If anyone knows anything about these companies or just can read and tell me if the tranny is built well. (I know nothing about it and dont know what to look for in a performance built tranny)

Here are links to the sites:
http://www.maddogtransmissions.com/p..._godfather.pdf
http://racetransmissions.com/store/p...roducts_id/212
http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4L60E.htm

And if anyone knows of any others, please chime in.
Thanks

Only place I'd trust is CPT man...

If you want something done once, have it done right. We've all had great experiences with CPT, so why not just use what works?

Got any links for a site?

Matt- I hear ya man, but my dad wont go for it for a couple reasons. One that he doesn't want me to have my out of commission for a month (2wk wait for CPT) and he doesn't trust me sending my tranny out. He has been screwed a couple times by similar situations, once with a carb and another with heads, both had to be sent to get rebuilt and we never saw them again. Called and they said that they never got it, even though we confirmed when they first got it. Probably got lost, but my dad wont let me go with CPT because of it and he is loaning me the money, so I cant argue.

Gotcha dude...then I guess try to find a good builder in your area. Isn't Pro-Built in CA?

Ya, sucks, but he has housed and fed me for 18 years, so cant argue. I'm not sure where pro-built is, i did a search and came up with nothing specific.

How does your dad feel about you having to pull it back out 3 or 4 times before someone else gets it "close", but still not right? Just letting you know, you'll spend more money anywhere else you go, and you won't get the quality.

mystic-t/a - Not that I am trying to bust your ***** or anything, but do a search on those comapies you listed there are customers of each one that has had issues and finally sent their stuff to Frank. If this board would allow I would also point you towards Franks message board on his site that has the guys from those other companies complaining their tranny went out, and getting them fixed by Frank...

Now that I mentioned it without links I am sure you can find it

I would only trust a few paople with a 4l60e, Frank at CPT over all, but also Dana From Pro-Built and a few others on here like rock on...

Dana is closer to you then Frank, he is in Calimesa, CA 92320.. God luck with whatever you do, but I can pretty much guarantee you that Frank will not lose you tranny, and your fathers fears shouldn't be a worry to you, but like you said it's his money so in the end his call...

I agree with the above posts....you should try to explain to your father that a good 4L60E builder is very hard to come by. Maybe show him some of these posts....cause Frank IS the way to go. If it's 100% not an option though, then oh well...

Re: Race built 4L60E, Where to buy?

I'm in the same boat, looking for a place to get a built 4L60. I thought I had found the perfect place with Pro-Built, I talked to him once and it seemed promising... but so far I've gone 3 and a half weeks without getting a single returned phone call. I've been really patient in leaving messages, but dude won't call me back for anything. All I'm trying to do is tell the guy to build it and tell me how much money he wants.

Not confidence inspiring. Really not too keen on handing 2000+ dollars to someone I'm not going to hear from. I'm looking for someone else now.

That's odd. I've probably called Dana 40+ times and if I didn't get an answer I left a message and got called back that day or the morning after. Never once has he not returned a call. I've not seen him online much lately so who knows what is going on. Keep your faith in Dana and I assure you that you won't be disappointed.

To the original poster, go with Pro-Built, strong trannies and great service, and he's local.

Call him and tell him to return my calls. I had been planning on going with him and figured everything would be set... But now not hearing from him has thrown a wrench into everything. The longer it takes to start building it, the longer it'll take for me to see it. And I'd like to get my car back on the road before Christmas.

Not that I am playing internet police here, but I think your a little wrong there Loadre, you may not have seen him but he has posted almost every day in the the past week...

Here are a couple:

Either way to both of you guys looking for trannies, go with whomever you feel comfortable. I just made this post because I thought it was strange Dana didn't respond in here himself, he normally does...
