Re: quick rear end gear question

Of course you need to verify that both cars have the same "series" carrier, or the gears will not swap.

Re: quick rear end gear question

No... "series" related to the spacing of the ring gear in the carrier. If a car left the factory with 2.73 gears, it will have a 2-series carrier. If it left the factory with 3.23 or 3.42 gears, it will have a 3-series carrier. You can't put gears from a 2-series carrier in a 3-series carrier. You could put gears from a 3-series carrier in a 2-series carrier with a spacer, but that's not the best way to do it. If you want to put anything higher than a 3.08 in a 2-series carrier, you need to get a special, wider gear. If you want to put a 3.23 or higher numerical gear in a 3-series carrier, you are good to go.
