quick question

how do you know if the trans fluid has never been changed or has? my 97 is at 91,000, automatic btw, and i hear everywhere that by now if it hasnt been changed then dont worry about it cause it will ruin it completely. does anyone know what to look for or how i could tell if it has been or not? the fluid is still a kinda redish color, its not brown or black at all but i still dont know

There's no forsure way to tell if it's been changed. It will not ruin it to change it, or the filter. With 91k and it still being red I would not worry about it.

No way of knowing for sure unless you had some maintenance receipts left behind from the previous owner. But the cars I have seen where the tranny fluid has never been changed, the fluid still doesn't look red in appearance.
