Quick gear question...

I have a used set of 4.10's going in this weekend for my 10 bolt....The gears have 1,000 proven miles on them. Is it necessary to "break" these in? I wouldn't imagine so considering they are used....Should I take it easy on them for awhile? If so, how much?

If they're used, they've already gone through a few heat cycles. Put them in, drive around the block. If they're abnormally noisy - oops, you screwed up, try again! If they're quiet (or no louder than they were previously or than should be expected for a low ratio) and there's no clunking, grinding, or any other nonsense going on, then I say flog it!!

Yes, they should be "broken in". They will not mesh exactly the same as in the prior installation. And they almost certainly will whine for that reason.

That's what I figured. Speed Inc. is doing the install, so I'm sure it's going to be good! Man, I can not wait to jump on these babies! Thanks guys.

How much does Speed Inc. charge for a gear setup?

Well now it's $250 plus fluids. But, I got mine for a little cheaper because I've been getting quotes from Larry for months, and less than a month ago he quoted me a cheaper price, so he said he would use that one instead. I got mine installed with fluids for $225.
