Question on swap

I have a 95 Z28 and i might be getting a 99 LS1 engine for a good price with low miles off course. Can i use the same T56 tranny? And is the LS1 swap possible in an LT1?

i know a LS1 swap is possible into a LT1 car as I have seen them done before, but I do not know what you have to do.

IDK about the transmissions, i know w/ the 4l60Es, one has a longer input shaft so they are not interchangeable

Going to have to change the bell housings on the tranny and *maybe* switch the braided clutch lines... Don't quote me on that last one.

SHouldn't be too hard. Basically the same car, just slightly different front end.

The LS1 will not bolt up to a LT1 T56. You have to get the LS1 bellhousing and convert over to a LS1 T56 front adapter plate as well as run the pusher clutch system the LS1 uses. You can run a spacer on the end of the LT1 input shaft, but I wouldn't recommend that ever. Would be easier to just sell your LT1/T56 combo and get a LS1/T56 combo together. It will slide right in no problems with the LS1 engine wiring harness.
