Question about non-lockup converter?

I was wondering if you had to make any modifications to a transmission to either run a non-lock up converter or disable the lock up. Some one told me that if the converter isnt locked up that the pump doesnt work but, I am almost sure this is wrong. Anyways if you could help me out I would appeciate it.

Re: Question about non-lockup converter?

For some reason, when I unplug the tcc(to make the lockup function inoperable) it acts like its supposed to(stalls up and so on) however when it is plugged in(and lockup feature is operational) it wont stall up and I get really low torque numbers.
