Question about my 4l60E

I just got my tranny rebuilt, the guy said I had a cracked piston, one of my pumps was out, my clutches/bands were shot and the snap ring was out of reverse. This shocks me because I drove my car like a grandpa since I've had it, went WOT 1-2 shift only around 6 times in 1 year. How could all this happen with me being so easy on the car?

Thanks guys

Re: Question about my 4l60E

Wow, those are some random parts from different areas of the tranny, what were your symptoms that prompted the rebuild...

It sounds like you had so many things wrong it wouldn't move right in either direction, maybe he was just telling you things to hear himself talk, or they were possibly parts that were not going to last and they were upgraded/replaced but he told you they were already broke so not to get pushback and hurt his rep if it failed in the future....

What clutches, I find it hard to believe all were completely shot... What type of rebuild was done? Was it a reputable shop?

BTW, you only have one pump, unless he was telling you one of the vanes on the pump was broke...

Also you said you drove like grandpa, but how many miles were on it before you picked it up?

Re: Question about my 4l60E

Well when I was at the dragstrip, it would just bang the limiter instead of shifting, but it got progressively worse to where it would just slip out of gear when giving it gas. My fluid was black in June.

I doubt he was trying to rip me, this guy has a damn good reputation around here, and when he rebuilds he replaces everything no matter what for the same fixed cost. I got a rebuilt tranny and converter for $950.

It had 75k miles when I got it, 60k an older lady really did drive it, and then the next 15k some douchebag 18 year old had it.
