Talking Q about M-6 to A4 wire harness conversion.

Is there a way to convert my '95 M-6 wiring harness for the engine and tranny to an A4? Are the plug ins the same or not? Just curious if anyone has done this, and how did it work? Did you have to buy new conectors to make it work? Is there a write up anywhere on how to do this?

If this is s dumb idea, just tell me and I will forget it! I was just wondering if this is possible, and feasible to do.

Thanks!
Cody

You'll have to get wiring diagrams for both and see whats different. You'll also need a M6 PCM. No reason why you can't get the parts of the harness you need and repin it into your current harness.

Check SHOEBOX's site for the diagrams. If he dosn't have them, I can email them to ya.

I have an M-6 computer. That is what I have. I am switching to an A4. But, my tuner said he can build me a program to reflash into my manual computer to run the automatic tranny.

Yes, you can reprogram a Auto file into your existing m6 PCM. Yes, you'll need the round connector that plugs into your 4l60E and have to install/change pins in the connectors of your PCM. Basically build a stand alone wire harness from the PCM to the trans. It's not difficult. All the info is on shoebox's site. I've had no problems with mine for a while now.

Re: Q about M-6 to A4 wire harness conversion.

I converted over from an M6 to an A4 a while ago and I did it without switching PCMs or wiring harnesses. I simply added on to my factory harness the wires that power the shift solenoids. Everything else is just rerouting. For example, the clutch switch becomes the neutral/safety switch and the wire to the reverse switch on the tranny now goes to the shifter. But you will need wiring diagrams for both cars to see where the differences and similarities are. as for the PCM, it can be flashed. Not much is as different as you'd think.
