Problems with the B&M Short throw shifter
Hi y'all
I have a '96 Camaro Z28 with 6 speed and i just installed a B&M short throw shifter. But now i hear rattling noises coming from the transmission, is it because the shifter isn't broken in yet, or is it because the shifter is just louder? I don't have any probelms shifting though, it's absolutely normal.
I'm just wondering what the noise could be.
Thanks in advance
Alex

I have the same thing, it's just tranny vibration resonating through the new shifter.
It's because the B&M is a solid peice of metal whereas the stocker has some rubber to quench this tranny vibration.
If it bothers you, a quick fix is to get some sound deadening material and put it under the lower shifter boot.
I hear an old mouse pad works good.
Or just get a cutout. You won't be able to hear a thing after that.
Good Luck!
