Problem with 94Z ?
Problem with 94Z ?
Hey guys ,I have just got this 94 z 6 speed a little over a week ago and have been driving it around all week with no problems except at times engaging first was difficult and sometimes had to pump clutch a few times. Well I was about to have it looked at on my next day off ,but two days ago prior to taking it in it started to act up . On my way to work it would start to move forward with my foot on clutch and brake in first and eventually stall. So I decided to have it towed to have it looked at as driving it could be a bad move and as I was backing it up to get it on the truck same thing happened car started to move with clutch pushed in ,I couldnt stop the car with the brakes its as if they just gave out also e-brake wouldnt stop me ,it seemed to work prior to this ,very scary thought. Any ideas on what this problem could be any advice would be greatily appretiated as I want to ensure the safety of my self and others on the road . Thanks Gary 94Z
Re: Problem with 94Z ?
Update,Well got the car back today they changed out the master and slave and everything seems to be ok, Although he said my 1st. gear syncros are starting to go ,I could notice something was up when I had to slip it into 1st slow ,but after I did this I could through it into and neatural with the clutch down and back into 1st like butter? I guess its time for a rebuild in the near future ,hoping it will hold for a few more months ,before I can have it done. Also he said the brakes situation was due to the clutch not disingaging due to the hydrolics, Mind you im coming from an 95 a4 so this is all new to me.
But no better way to lean than the hard way although it may cost more.

Re: Problem with 94Z ?
yep, sounds like the clutch hydraulics were bleeding back down and letting the clutch engage a little. I had a similar situation with a centerforce clutch that was just too thick and would do the same. I ended up burning up the 1st syncro as well. I doubt you needed the master but I guess it doesn't hurt to do them both. The slave is normally the culprit.
