so far i have lived with and proven to myself many times over you get what you pay for so i had to ask. anyone heard of or used these guys?

website main page

i called and talked to the man in the shop and he quoted me like 240 for a 2500 ish TC. furnaced brazed fins, needle bearings, blah blah all the keywords and tricky phrases. just wondering if anyone can vouch for the product. they are the supplier for jasper transmissions. dont know anything about jasper either. thanks.

A 2500 stall is just barely bigger than stock. Save your money and get at least a 3200 stall. I've never heard of that company so I can't comment on their product.

i have been stuck over in lt1 tech for months (new to this board) and just started reading in the drivetrain section and i have seen this exact comment a few times. even for ok street manners it seems i need to get up to at least 2800. i thought the stock was like 1500?? shouldn't 2500 at least be noticeable?? i am not trying to go 60' in 1.6 and would like to keep the glass jaw in the back as long as possible.

3200 is a mild convertor. You will hardly notice it in normal driving. Your rpm will hold somewhere around 2300 rpm as you accelerate.

not really sure what this means that my rpm will hold at 2300. my car currently idles at 900 and feels like it starts moving as soon as i push on the pedal. i thought that the aftermarkets would do the same thing under normal acceleration but apply much greater coupling force once you got to stall. please correct me if i am out to lunch. i think you are saying that i wont begin to move until 2300 rpm and i will stay at 2300 for a certain amount of time?? sorry i am so new to this torque converter thing.

Your car will move whenever you push down on the gas pedal just like it does now. However instead of slowly climbing up in rpm as you accelerate a higher stall convertor will let the engine rev higher into your torque band as you accelerate. In normal driving when you accelerate moderately with a 3200 stall you will start moving as you normally do but your rpm will jump to around 2300 rpm and stay there briefly until the cars speed catches up with the convertor. If you don't watch your tach you would probably never notice it. The 4200 stall I just took out of my car would jump to about 3200 rpm and stay there when accelerating normally. The 3800 stall I have in it now will hold at about 2600 rpm when accelerating normally. With a 3200 stall your mother could drive your car and not realize anything had been changed. However, when you floor it from a stop it's a whole different ball game.....

Keep in mind Gold Z's car is an LS1 and you have an LT1. Huge difference in stall rpm required for each. How he explained it worked is right on, but you don't need a stall that high to achieve what you want. Since you have a 95' you have OBD1 and anything higher than 3000rpm stall requires a tune to get the car to shift right. I have a 3000rpm and it's a monster outta the hole. 2800 is the most recommended for our cars btw. If you get a 2500 or so I think you'll be pleased, but someday your gonna wish you went a little higher. I dunno about getting 1.6 60ft's unless you go higher either. Not to mention your probably gonna need atleast gears to accompany a stall change to get what you want in a 60ft. Don't forget the power to acheive that 1.6 and tires that are gonna hold that kinda launch. All those things covered, your rear isn't going to like you very much, or for very long anyway. Bottom line, if your looking for advice on a stall rpm 2800-3000 and you'll be very very happy. Agreeing with what Gold said, after a week or so you won't even notice a difference from stock.

I have a Torco and i am happy with it. Look up Art Carr's address then look up torco's. SAME address! Different phone # i think 1 brother runs torco and the other runs Art Carr or something to that effect. Go with the 3000 and get reprogrammed for the stall wall and you will be very happy. Steven
