Possible Clutch Problem
Possible Clutch Problem
I have a 97 Camaro V6 5 speed and this is the first car I have owned that is standard. So I don't know alot about the clutch and tranny and stuff. I have this problem that just began about a week ago. I go to start my car, push the clutch to the floor and turn the key and the car doesn't start. I tried to turn it over a few times with the clutch pressed down and it didn't go. I let off the clutch and then pushed it down again and I tried to start it again and I was able to.
I noticed also that when I am driving and I go to shift into second gear that it feels like the shifter or something is getting caught on some teeth of some gear or something. It doesn't grind, it just seems like it gets caught up(sorry that parts pretty vauge). If seems to mainly do this when the my car has been sitting for awhile. After it warms up then it's fine. It is only on my 1-2 shift. It doesn't happen any other time when I'm shifting.
Although sometimes when I push in the clutch and I shift it into reverse some how I end up grinding it. I noticed that if I shift into 5th then down into reverse that it doesn't grind at all.
My uncle drove my car and he said that I might have to get a clutch soon(before I started getting these problems). Could all of these things be caused by a bad clutch? If not then what could be the problem?
Thanks ahead of time.

Re: Possible Clutch Problem
My dad had a 95 v6 that I owned before him and I sometimes grinded into reverse but not when I went to fifth then reverse. Then after he bought it he replaced the clutch and when I drove it I still would grind into reverse if I didn't hit fifth first. So I think that that is normal.
