posi clunking and slipping

I recently bought an 8.2" 10-bolt 3.08 posi rearend and had 3.73 gears swapped into it. Ever since the 3.73 swap, which was about a week ago, I've heard a slight clunk from the rear end whenever I start from a dead stop. Well, today, I decided to jack up the back of the car and just spin the tires to see what was going on, and I can get a good 1/4 wheel turn in either direction before the other tire starts turning. Before the 3.73 swap, the rearend was silent. Is this the sign of just a worn out old posi chunk that can't handle 3.73 gears or did the guy who setup the rearend for me do something wrong? Any suggestions on fixing it? I've already sunk too much money into this rearend to bother replacing the posi chunk, so I'm probably going to sell it and buy myself a nice FAB 9" rearend.

Sounds like the axle splines or side gear splines are worn.

Hmmmm, that's odd. That rear end was pretty tightly in there before I had the 3.73 swapped in. I better get this guy to crack the case open and look at it again, huh?
