Polyurethane tranny mounts????

I knew that at one time you could get them but someone said they quit making them, why did they stop or is this just b.s. and would you even recommend the poly mounts over the stock replacements?

Thanks!

Re: Polyurethane tranny mounts????

Having gone through 3 trans mounts in about 12 months, even though i race more then most anyone, i would recommend the poly mount.

The reason why is because instead of the full hardened rubber of he stock mount, this is solid metal covered in poly. Which is about 50 times stronger.

It DOES however make your shifts firmer on your body. You will feel it more in your seat, and your center column will rattle if you have the HP to back it up.

Some say you lose less power, because now the trans is secured correctly, it does jolt, and instead puts that jolt power through your frame to the wheels.

Lastly, i bought mine from Pep Boys. Its working fine, but don't get it from there. I had to use about 5 lock washers to get it to fit snug, and i fear they are loosening.

In conclusion, get the poly mount, for 20 bucks you are safe for a looooong time, just don't get the universal one, and defintly not the one from Pep Boys.

I have a poly mount too. Vibration isnt bad at all but you can tell from the stock mount. I got mine from either Thunder or Summit and its a Prothane. I'd ALWAYS go with at least a poly mount over stock.
