Poly trans mount

I have an issue trying to install a prothane poly trans mount. When bolting it up the trans and headers crush to under side of the body of car. When i take the mount out and match it up to the stock mount its half inch thicker (prothane mount). I called them and they said its is a stock replacment. So i ordered another and same issue. I called energy suspension they dont make a mount for the car yet but stated it will be out in july. Anybody ever run into this? Thanks in advance.

What year is your car? Auto or manual? Giving a little info helps others help you better. As for the mount, I recommend going with a stock piece. The polyurethane mount will give you more vibration than you may like. But I'm going to assume you have a 96 Z28, and if that's the case then the Energy Suspension mount is ENS-3-1108G, and it's like $20 from Autozone. If you go the stock way, get the 1LE mount, which is stronger than the stocker. GM part # is 22201140.

mount

Sorry. I do have a 1996 z28 6 speed. I already have prothane engine mounts and want the poly trans mount. Dont care what company it from . The energy suspension mount you stated is to thick also. I called them and they told me a direct replacment is being made. Also they were stright out stating it will not fit right. Nobody here has run into this?

I've had the ES unit on my car for about 8 years now; and other than increased vibration (which I don't care about) it worked fine.

Same here on numerous fourth gens, including, the car I own now, and others, both M6 and A4, and 1 A3.

Old post, but I'm having the same problems...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6715&viewitem=

Thats what I purchased, and what it looks like is my LT Pacesetters are sitting 1/2 to high. To where if I were to mount my X pipe back up I would have trouble fitting it without having to pry at the header and having it sit on the body.

Any ideas? I really want poly mounts.

Car is a 95 Lt1/4l60e in a Firebird.

dunno I've contacted the seller and this is his answer:

I am 100% sure they work, I had a 94 Trans Am with an LT1/4L60E, and I installed one on that car myself. I don't think I had to slot any of my holes in the crossmember, but you may have to slot the center hole.

My response:

I am not the only one with this delema, could you send my the part number on the mount you used/sell. I'm not interested in money or refunds just trying to get to the bottom of this even if it means popping a stock mount back in.

Do either of you own a ruler or measuring tape? How much thicker is the poly mount than the factory mount?
When I bought my ES mount back in 1999 it was 1/8'' thinner than a factory mount and came with a supplied spacer to make up the difference.
If the mounts that you have are only a little thicker than stock you could go to the tractor store or hardware store and get a piece of metal as thick as the difference between the two mounts and make shims to move the trans crossmember down.

trans mount

The mount is about a 1/2 thicker then stock. When you bolt up the crossmember my long tube header crush into the under body of car. I ordered another mount from one of our vendors and the same thing. Ill read the part numbers tonight

Response from seller:

I have a new rubber 93-97 Camaro LT1 Automatic transmission mount here, and lots of the Energy Suspension mounts. I measured both heights of each mount installed on a transmission, and they are both roughly 2" tall, within 1/16" of an inch between the mounts in height. The only different I can see or measure, is the location of the holes relative to the mount stud, which is around 1/4", which is why you have to slot the crossmember hole. I'm confident the problem is not with the mount, it has to be something else. We've used and sold alot of these. Before you changed the mount, was there anything else you did? One time, we changed a customers cylinder heads from Trick Flow to AFR, and when we did that, the exhaist was off by 2" since the heads were angled differently.

I will have to measure mine, but I know the bolt was a little tight going into the crossmember.
