poly trans mount...
poly trans mount...
instead of tellingme to use the search feature to dig through tons of threads to find my simple answer,i need an answer fast and quick.
can someone link me to a poly transmission mount from summit or somewhere for my 97 formula LT1 which is auto. i need this fast..this dealer said they replaced it, but guess what, about 20 minutes later that same bang came back. since i dono't have the tools i'm going to buy a transmission mount, and say i want to see you put this mount on, and i expect my transmission not to bang.
they also fixed the blinkers, but guess what, 45 minutes later the right one stopped working.

Re: poly trans mount...
If you get the Energy Suspension's poly trans mount, be prepared for some serious interior vibrations inside the car after
. Obviously the mount is solid, and I'm sure that all the "losses" through the original mount are now obsolete, but if you don't want your car to vibrate apart, I'd recommend the LS1 tranny mount. They're much better than the LT1 mounts, but they're not quite as extreme as the Energy Suspension one (ask me how I know this
).

Re: poly trans mount...
I would go poly, I put the ES in mine, it really isnt that bad. If you can deal with a loud exhaust you can deal with the poly mount, why go half way, get the one that you know will hold up to anything.
Re: poly trans mount...
Ok I'm gonna head on over to Pep Boys and get an ES mount. How easy it to install this? Will I need any special tools? How much room do I have to work with? Is it safe to by myself?
Re: poly trans mount...
its been a while since i did this, but you need to jack up the front end, put it on jack stands or ramps. get a wood block, put the wood block on the jack and set it on the bottom of the trans pan. unbolt the trans mount, you may need to jack the tranny up a little more to get it out. put the ES mount in, bolt it up and remove the jacks and jackstands, not too hard.
Re: poly trans mount...
I only have a 15" car jack, but the stands go much higher. So get the car on jack stands from the front, jack the car by the tranny a little with a wood block on tops. than swap the mounts? I woln't need any special tools? My tranny is bangin like crazy.
Re: poly trans mount...
You can have your shop re-install a new tranny mount and just check if they did it or not. Here's a link on my webpage that shows what a torn tranny mount looks like.

With the car on a lift, if you push up on the tranny, you can actually see the split open if the tranny mount is torn. Pretty quick check to keep your shop honest if they ever replaced the part in the first place.
Also, you don't need special tools..just a solid way to keep the transmission in place. I say go to a small shop and watch them replace it on the lift...takes 10 minutes.
Next time, go to another shop...if they can't fix a blinker....

Re: poly trans mount...
The thing is, it isn't the blinker and I know this. There is an electrical problem that so many shops have said oh it's just your bulbs, and they put the bulb in before we tell them not to. The dealer charged us 130 bucks to TIGHTEN the BROKEN tranny mount, and we bitched at them and they refunded us. Just like how they refunded us for the "water getting in the headlight wires, so we replaced the bulbs." How much would it be for a small shop, ROUGHLY?
