PlEase HELP!!trouble getting into reverse
Hi guys, well I finally got my camaro. Its a 94 z28 M6 w/a supercharger and forged engine block as some main features. I have been driving the car quite a bit this weekend and been trying to get used to the shiftng. Now, some background info: The car has a B&M ripper shifter, and the springs are super stiff. So if anyone has this shifter please chime in. Also, the car used to be an auto and has 3.23 gears. The clutch is an aftermarket Mcloud single disk. The shifting is difficult. But, bottomline is, I can shift into every gear 100% of the time but reverse. I cannot shift into reverse if the car s running, or it grinds badly. I was told to shift into reverse when the car s off and go from there. That was working fine for a while, now when i think i'm in gear, 1/2 the time i'm not and the car acts like its in neutral. My question is, if a change the shfter to a 5.0 or something, will the shifting into reverse be a piece of cake, or the shfter not the problem at all, but the transmission itself??
Re: PlEase HELP!!trouble getting into reverse
Since the car is a conversion make sure the reverse lockout solenoid is hooked up and working. If it is my guess is your clutch is not fully releasing. That would also explain the difficult shifting in the other gears.
Re: PlEase HELP!!trouble getting into reverse
I talked to the previous owner and he agreed about the solenoid. Also, I had my engine service light on (been on for previous owner) I got a ton of codes, all had to do with things that had been changed (O2 sensors MAF stuff etc.) but i also got codes about the transmission. 2 mentioned solenoid and 1 had something to do with the torque converter. So, he sad when it was beng dyno-tuned that he told the tuner to flash the pcm for a manual and erase the auto codes, but since i am readng codes w/torque converter and solenoid stuff, we both think that the guy forgot to flash the ecu. Does this all come together now?
Thanks for the input guys
