PLEASE HELP QUICK!! LT1 to LS1 rear-end swap!!!

ok my 10 bolt blew last weekend and need a quick swap for now (until i save up for a 9")

I found a guy that has a complete 10 bolt from a '98 Z28 w/ a 6 speed. So assuming it has 3.42's already, my question is will it bolt right in to my '94Z? I heard something about the '98 having traction control and it might not work???? i need to know a.s.a.p because tomorrow i will be picking it up and dont want to buy it if it doesnt work. help please!!!

If the rear is traction control it will work in your car with out any problems except your abs won't work. If it is traction control you will need to use your brake hard lines. Traction control was an option on 95 and later cars so it could be an abs only rear. If the rear comes with brakes and you want to use them instead of your LT1 brakes you will need the LS1 emergency brake cables.

If you use your brakes you'll have to use your axles. The LS1 axles are a 1/2" an inch longer and it will be an issue. It's not hard change the axles though.

u can use the 98 rear. does it have 3 or 4 channel abs? 3 channel bolts right in. if the 4 channel just re-use the center brake hose from your lt1 rear, cut and flare the ls1 brake lines, & install the LT1 center hose. you will need 3/16" fittings & a double flare tool (rent @ AZ). as mentioned abs will not work (4 channel rear). i just did the swap 1 week ago.

I don't know if this is true on the 98-up rears, but on 93-97 you can use a 4 channel rear in a 3 channel car, and still have it work, by lengthening the wiring and plugging in to one of the ABS sensors at the end of the axle. I did this on a 95Z, and the ABS worked fine. Never tried it on the later rears though. My 97 SS has an '02 rear, complete with brakes (3 channel rear, 3 channel car) and e-brake cables, and it was hassle free.

Did you have to swap out your axels? I read some where that the 4 channel axels were longer. Thanks
