Please Help... Clutch install problems

Current problems:

Bell Housing will not come off:
I have tried prying it and a rubber mallet. All 8 bolts are off. It seems to be sticking in the upper right, just above the starter, which I removed b/c I was having this problem?

Getting the throw out bearing off the slave cylinder:
I heard it could come off with a little effort. So far, nothing. Any ideas here would be great as well.

Thanks

On the bellhousing, the dowel pins are holding you up. The pins in the bellhousing fit very snug into the corresponding holes on the block. Keep prying and hitting with your rubber mallet...it will come.

For the TO bearing, its kind of hard to explain, but im going to try anyway.

Take a look at the aluminum shaft of the base of the slave cylinder...you will see a flat spot machined into the outside of the shaft...it's a very slight flat spot to you will have to look for it. Now look at your TO bearing...you will see an indented channel on one side, and another one just like it 180 degrees on the other side of the TO bearing.

One of these "channels" in the plastic part of the TO bearing, needs to be aligned with the "flat spot" on the shaft part of the slave cylinder. Grasp the base of the slave with one hand, and grasp the top of the bearing with your other hand and rotate them until the two marks are aligned...you will have to give it some force to align the two, but once they are aligned, the spring tension will push the TO bearing up and off of the slave cylinder shaft. Installation of your new TO bearing is the reverse of removal.

If it seems like one channel on the TO bearing just isnt working, rotate the bearing 180 degrees and try to align the other "channel" with the "flat spot" on the aluminum shaft.

This should cover it!

Re: Please Help... Clutch install problems

Hey, thanks for the reply. The bell housing was a pain. It had kinda rusted one of the dowel pins. After yanking for awhile, hitting with a rubber mallet, and a whole lot of 4 letter words, it came off. Oh, one those instructions on getting the throw out bearing of the slave cylinder, that was a big help. After you posted, it took like 30 seconds to get the it off and the new one on. New clutch in and life is good. Thanks for the help.

Not a problem at all...I was wondering if those instructions were clear enough for you, apparently they were
