pinion shims and bearing

pinion shims and bearing

ok if you have done gears please help


if my pinion depth is wrong with my stock shim on new gears....i have to pull that pressed on bearing off to change the shim dont i? how is that possible without damage? is it? are there alteratives?

You do have to pull the bearing. It shouldn't damage it if done carefully. This is one of the reasons why doing gears can be a pain. The shops that do it all the time use a slightly oversize bearing so they can make the changes quickly.

yeah im either think of just buying 2 new bearings and sand one so it slides on easier and make my adjustments from there

instead of paying 200 for a gear install
