Permanent torque converter damage?
Permanent torque converter damage?
I originally posted this last week in the nitrous forum, but didn't get any responses so I'm posting it here as well. Sorry for the cross-post.
I have noticed that when I drive my car around without using the nitrous, it stalls and shifts fine and the car feels just dandy.
When I start spraying the car, the shifts start to get softer, and the car starts to feel sloppy. The first run or two with the nitrous the car is OK, but after that, it gets soft and sloppy. It will stay that way for a while too.
After the car's had the night to sit and cool off, it goes back to shifting like it should, but the converter continues to feel looser than it used to.
The only temp reading I have access to for the transmission is in Autotap and I'm not sure if that's accurate or not.
I guess I need to know if the use of nitrous can cause any kind of permanent damage to my torque converter?
I'm running the stock stall with the stock transmission too.
I have 3.42 gears, a CAI, LT headers, y-pipe, cat-back exhaust and a 100HP wet shot. Car dynoed almost 290HP on motor alone recently.
