Ive got a 94 z28 and yesterday i got in it and tried to shift into drive and while the shifter went into place like normal the car would not kick in to drive. After ten seconds and several revs the car finally clunked into gear. I drove about two miles and during these two miles it would drop out of gear upon acceleration and the engine would rev freely. I came to a complete stop after the two miles and the car would not go back into overdrive, drive or 2, however reverse works like normal. The temperature here has been 10 degrees or lower for a few days. The car is sitting on a trailer and i need suggestions.

 

Have you checked your tranny fluid level?
