Not Using the Trans Cooler In the Radiator?
I'm trying to find a good radiator to work with my almost-finished turbo car. The car should put down a little over 700 to the wheels, so I'm concerned about keeping it cool as it's a daily driver and part-time racer.
Talking with one radiator company, they said it would be better for the engine cooling AND the transmission to remotely mount a big trans cooler and add a fan to it. I currently have the biggest bar and plate auxiliary trans cooler I could fit in front of the radiator. So, would it be okay (or even beneficial) to just remotely mount my auxiliary cooler, put a fan on it, and then I can get a radiator without the trans cooler in it? I'm hoping that will work as the so far the best radiator I can find for my application that will fit does not have one built in.

Re: Not Using the Trans Cooler In the Radiator?
With a setup like that I would buy the radiator without a cooler built in and run the biggest auxillary cooler I could with a fan. It should be fine.
