not sure what's wrong

I have an 84 Z28 with a High Output 305, 5 speed and 3.73 posi rear end. I was at the track on Sunday doing a burnout and only one tire was spinning (which I was unaware of at the time.) As I started down the track I could hear a whining noise as I accelerated and I also heard it on the way home. The car ran fine the rest of the way down the track and on the way home but I didn't get on it at all to see if it would perform at all. Everything is shifting and riding fine. The motor still sounds fine, I don't think the tranny is hurt because it's shifting fine so I'm guessing the rear end? Anyone have any ideas on what it might be or any suggestions?

Thanks,

Nate
