Not F-body related tranny question.

My friend is planning to make a buggy car with a small block chevy and wants to know what tranny he can use for it. The motor well be longitudinal rear mounted. I’ve heard some kit cars came with such a tranny. A link would be helpful.

I'm not exactly sure how it went together, in the car...but...I've built a 125 transmissions for a Chevy V-8 in a Fiero.
You might want to try checking the Fiero boards.

The Fiero has a transverse motor. He wants to make this with a longitudinal rear mounted motor.

Oops...Sorry, missed the longitudinal thing.

Let's think this way, then...The C5 Vette has a rear mounted 4L60E. It has the differential bolted directly to it. It also uses a torque tube from the engine to the transmission. The great part is, they also use a removable bellhousing 4L60E.

So, let's say you use a bellhousing from say a '98 Chevy truck with a 5.7...bolt it to a 4L60E...and bolt a C5 differential to the 4L60E?
