Let me guess, you've got an A4 tranny and you get the noise mostly when making a low speed left turn?

If so, it's just the Torsen diff floating. According to GM it's normal. Not believing them, I called Torsen and spoke with one of their engineers. He said that it's "normal" in the fact that it does it on some F-Bodys, it doesn't hurt anything, and they can't figure out what causes it.

I have heard that noise before on another car I had, it was a late 80's model but I heard it when I slammed the gas pedal on a straight line. It kinda sounded like the gears skipped a little.

Anybody know a site for Torsen??
There has been a lot of comments about this clicking, clunking or what ever.
I had it in my 97 but cured it by cleaning and refluiding the rear end. It had the ASR so that may of been different type of rear end.
I understand these could either have a Gov lock or Torsen rear differential and I have NO ideal of either.
I have flushed out this one and refilled with new oil and additive and still clicks or clunks.
I have jacked it up and put a stetescope on the differential and don't seem to hear any unusual noise.
Only notice it at low speeds and mostly when doing a slight turn. Maybe this won't hurt anything, WHICH I hope, cause I am doing a 4k mile trip this May for a police car convention in AR.

Great forum and lots of thoughts to digest!!
