B&M Shift improver kit

A buddy of mine has a brand new shift improver kit that he bought and was gonna install on his 700r before he blew the motor in his car. I was gonna take it off his hands and throw it in my 86 IROC, but I heard from someone that the B&M kits are notorious for ruining 700r's and 4L60's. I was wondering if there is any truth to this or if Im just getting smoke blown up my ***? If anybody has and info or if they have one in there car. Any info would be a great help.
thanks

they work by increasing line pressure. they will not necessarily hurt the transmission, but i would recommend getting an auxilliary cooler since the higher line pressures will create more heat. This is probably what you are hearing about. Excess heat is the #1 cause of premature transmission failure...

If you really want something that will bang the gears for you, look into a Transgo valve body shift kit...
