I've done a search but I'm still not sure what to do. I've swapped a 96 t56 into my gta. When I got the tranny the guy told me it came out of a wrecked firebird but he never used it. Like alot of people he had mor projects than time. I drained the oil out before hand and I didn't see anything wrong with it,no particles or chunks of metal, it didn't smell burnt or fell very gritty. It took about 4 months to get on the road due to money and time problems but when I finally took it for a test drive I find out I have no 5th or 6th gears. The shifter will go into place and stays there but all I hear is a buzzing /whine sound. My search mentioned a shift fork problem but I'm not sure where to go from there. I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
