newbie needs help, 6 speed in classic old chassis
I'm sure this has been brought up here before, but I'm new here, and could really use some help...
A drunk driver wiped out my 97 Z-28, insurance totaled it, and I bought it back.
The car is totally un-driveable, so my intentions are to put the engine/tranny into a 70 buick skylark, which is basically the same as a Chevelle.
I'v managed to find pleanty of info on the engine swap, but cant seem to get any help on the 6 speed swap.
I'm no fool, or day dreaming amature for that matter...
I realize this swap is going to be difficult, and expensive...
But any help would be appreciated...

Not sure I understand the question. Swapping a T56 into an earlier model, WITHOUT the LT1 engine, used to be a problem. McLeod now sells a "universal" bellhousing/adapter, so that problem is no longer there. Spohn Performance can also supply a kit for installing a LT1 T56 in a 3rd Gen F-Body/SBC.
But you are transplanting the complete engine and tranny, so the issues you need to address are limted to:
-where do I mount the master cylinder?
-how do I support the tailshaft?
-will the shifter be located in a workable position?
-how will I interface the speedo?
Is that the kind of info you are after? Unless someone has done the exact same swap, hard to see how anyone would know the answers????
