New Tranny

I just replaced the tranny in my '97. When I got it back, I was told not to drive it in OD all the time... (its an automatic). That I should be driving it in D, and when I hit about 50 then put it in OD. Is this true, and why?

Re: New Tranny

That's not true.

Sounds like you need a new tranny builder (assuming your tranny builder told you that).

Re: New Tranny

That doesn't make any sense. Either way, you are using the entire same internals, it's not like there is a set of gears for D and another for OD.

Re: New Tranny

You shouldn't have any problems driving in OD. The only time we recommend driving an A4 in the D range is while towing, or if you're using a non lock-up converter.

Re: New Tranny

Well, thanks guys. Appreciate the advice, but not, the tranny builder is not the one that told me that, lol.
